Modified Stock Car Program Set At ConcordCONCORD, March 31—A modified stock car racing program for this section of the state will be presented Sunday afternoon at the Concord Speedway- Some of the most promising neweomers of the Tar Heel state have already notifie officials that they will be on hand to take a crack at the top purse.Time trials for the race are slated to start at 1 o’clock while the heat events will start at 2:30. Officials have announced that two 10-lap heat races, a 35-lap consolation and a 30-lap feature wil Icom-prise the program.Fifteen drivers have already filed their entry blanks and many more are expected to join the field before starting time Sunday. Heading the entry list is Dave Euart of Salisbury who was crowned co-champion of the Carolina Racing team last fall and has appeared in races throughout the Carolinas this year.Concord’s Red Irvin has announced that he will be on hand and will probably rank as one of the favorites. Irvin is considered as one of the most promising drivers in the state and has been appearing in races weekly.Other entries for the event are headed by a trio of Towel City j speedsters. They include Sloan Fox, Jim Brawley and Buddy Bowman, i A race for Cabarrus county honors is practically assured since all of the Concord gas jockeys liave entered. Earl Cook, Tommy Boger, Charlie Shaffer, Hap Cook and Dink ; Widenhouse are definite entries. ;The Concord Speedway is one of the trickiest half-mile tracks in the state and is located on the Poplar Tent road. ;
