LincolnReceives TourneyKearney - Lincoln was awarded the men's Fast Pitch Major Division (formerly AA) softball tournament for 1976 at the annual State Softball Meetings here over the weekendDates have not yet been set for the tourney which will be held at Ballard Field and will IncludeLincoln AAA Fast Pitch softballclubs.Sites were selected for otherstate tournaments including Major Slow Pitch — Blair, Class A Fast Pitch — Kearney; Class A Slow Pitch — Bellevue for the men and for the womensites include Fast Pitch — Crete; Slow Pitch — Blair; School Division Fast Pitch — Grand Island and Youth Fast Pitch — North Platte.Two new rules for tournaments passed this year are a maximum number of teamswhich can enter any single state tourney — 32 — and a rule which will force the top two teams in this year’s A tournaments to move up in class for 1977 tourneys.Jane Hoge of York and a member of the N Street Drive In women’s team, which won the national championship last year, was chosen Miss Softball for 1976 in Nebraska. An N Street teammate, Terri Happ of Alliance, was runnerup.Daryl Pagel of West Point was awarded the Jim Hall Manorial Trophy, signifying outstanding coaching. Pagel coached the West Point girls’ youth division Sate champs.State Softball Commissioner 0 W (Bill) Smith received the Jim Lewis Award for outstanding contributions to state softball.Betsy Anderson of Blair and Sandy Obermeier of Aurora were awarded scholarships by the State Softball Association.
