e-w.0 tFesenmaier-Gibbons Bouti dht“II.Precedes O’Connor Fightt e:ePnds.»nROCHESTER—Gene Fesen-maier, manager of Rochester unbeaten fighter Pat O’Connor, angered a few people in in the Mayo Civic Auditorium Friday night including Minnesota State Athletic Commission chairman Jack G i b-bons.Gibbons threatened to eject Fesenmaier from the Audito-rium Friday night following anincident prior to the O’l'onnor-Duane Horsman fight card.Fesenmaier stepped into the ring just before the first of five fights on the card. He opened the purse strings on a little bag and poured the contents on the ring apron. The contents contained chunk resin. Fesenmaier then tried to grind the substance into t h e ring apron.He did not complete h i s mission, however, because hewas stopped by Gibbons, .howas stopped by Gibbons who said he did not want to see Fesenmaier in the ring again. Fesenmaier parted companyreluctantly after arguing the fact that he was helping provide Rochester with its most important boxing action.“He claims that the resin is necessary, but he has absolutely no authority in the world to be in the ring.” Gibbons explained that Fesenmaier has pulled the same trick before, but always managed to get awav with it.“Next time he does something like that, the commission will throw him out,” Gibbons said. Gibbons explained that the commission has tried to suspend Fesenmaier before, “but I’ve always talked them out of it.• *Fesenmaier who has also managed I d Hurley and Tim-berjack Wagner “wants to be barred because then he can squak and yell and get all the publicity he wants,’’ Gibbons said.Gibbons fought professionally for eight years. He had a record of I (11-3-1.
