LONDON “GOLFING” SAYSILLINOIS LEADS OXFORD“All honour to the University of Illinois—Wake up Oxford!” These* were the opening and closing words of an editorial in the March number of Golfing, a London sporting paper, in commenting on th*3 “appointment” of Thomas Bendelow, as a professor of Golf at the University of Illinois. This commendation from across tin-sea is not merited, however, as Golfing misunderstood the real facts. Mr. Bendelow is a regular visiting in* structor in the Landscape «lepartnicnt. reaching the University once each year to instruct the senior classes in the planning of practical ?$olf courses. There are many golfing. professors a: the University of Ulinoi3, but as yet no professor of Golf.
