SPRING IS HEREAn absolute indication that spring has returned is indicated by the first golf festivity held in Chicago, this year.On Wednesday evening, March 24, the Glenwoodie Golf Club, which was organized late last fall, held its first annual spring dinner and dance at the Windermere-East hotel. One hundred couples — all golf enthusiasts — attended.The course of the Glenwoodie Golf Club is located at Glenwood, 111., and is being built by Mr. Harry J. Collis of Flossmoor. Nine temporary holes will be ready for play in a few weeks and work on the permanent 18 holes is under way.Plans for a Spanish type clubhouse, to cost $150,000, are being drawn by Architect Mr. Joseph G. Ludgin.Pending the completion of the clubhouse, several social functions have been planned for the spring and summer season. Chairman of entertainment committee is Mr. Lew 0. Schen-ker, and the success that attended his efforts Wednesday evening justify the expectation that Glenwoodie will be reputed for its activities in promoting the social aspects of golf club life.Officers of the Glenwoodie Country Club are Joseph M. Kraus, president; Paul Simon, vice president; V. Hugo Heimer, secretary; Jack Schwartz, treasurer. Mr. Paul Drews, formerly of Evergreen, has been retained as professional.
