At this stage of spring practice, some of the boys might be out of position and we want to correct this between now and the end of the spring, or come close to it.”The Pioneers return some experience from last fall's 2-4 team, including halfback Brad Eidson, fullback Donnie Graves and center Robert Rigdon who started on both offense and defense.Johnny Smith returns experience at the end position, as does Dennis Miller along the line and Paul Alexander at halfback. We want to build aro-nd our returnees,” Campbell said. Their experience will help.’At quarterback, the Pioneers have Greg Bailey who has good moves and agility, tough physically. Smith, the end, is the backup signal-caller at the present time. The top 11 right now appear tc be Bailey at quarterback, Graves at fullback, Eidson at left halfback, Gary Hulse and Alexander neck-and-neck at right half, Jimmy Taylor and Smith at ends, Mark Schwaiger and James Bice at guards. Miller and Ronnie Harbison at tackles and Rigdon at center.Pushing the front-runners for starting positionsmthose ahead right now) are Robert Tidwell and John Gamble at the guards, Greg Parker and Robert Hunter at tackles, Wendell Hathcock at end, John Whisenhunt at fullback and John Buettner atcenter.Progress thus far?Because we’re small, we’ve been trying to develope somequickness and I believe we’re making some progress in thatdirection,” Coach Campbellsaid. And we're spending a lot of time learning plays. In junior high drills, you have to spend maybe more time in learningthe plays.”The u Pioneers will conclde their '74 drills in the jamboree at Decatur April 5, involving Cullman, Decatur, Austin and Athens.Winter FestivalOTTAWA i UPI)—More than :0,000 athletes accepted invitations to compete in British lt;olumbia's third province-wide Festival of Winter Sports. \mong the events scheduledduringMrs. Mary T.
