Philadelphia, Pa., March 22.—Kid McCoy won his fight with Jack Fitzgerald at the American Athletic club last night after six rounds of boxing that never will be characterized as brutal. It cannot be said with any degree of truth that McCoy “came back for after showing a flash of his old time form early in the bout, he slowed up and the last two rounds wlt;-re particularly tame.So parelor-llke was the contest that many of the spectators went away declaring the affair was a fake. Those close to the ringside claim that in the fifth round they heard Fitzgerald’s ) manager, Nick Hayes, yell at McCoy: Hit him in the head, those stomach punches hurt him.”The first round saw the Kid give a glimpse of himself as he was years ago. The two went into a clinch to start proceedings after which McCoy drove a left to the face, and followed I with a stiff right to the head. He had j much the better of the session, dancing around his opponent and displaying considerable cleverness. McCoy took a hard left to the wind in the i second, but out boxed Fitzgerald I again. The third round was an even affair. The best fighting of the six rounds came in the fourth when the two stood toe to toe and swapped hard punches.
