Me L O’Dell Head Football Coach Wellington High SchoolIt was announced today by Jnified School District 353 School Superintendent, Dick rValn, that Me L. O’Dell has been named the new Wellington High School head football coach for the coming 1975-76 season.The School Board met last night with O’Dell and he signed his contract early this morning at the School Administration Office.O’Dell came to Wellington last year from Soiling, Oklahoma and assisted under Coach Bob Ivins. Earlier this month, Ivins announced his resignation and took the head coaching job at Hillsboro, Texas.O’Dell has 13 years ex-perience as head coach before coming to Wellington. In those 13 years he has compiled a 95-47record.Me began his career at Wellington, Texas in 1958 as an assistant coach. His first head job came af Wayne, Oklahoma, a class B school, where hecompiled a 16-14 record in 3years.O’Dell then was hired head coach at Seiling, Oklahoma(class B) where he coached for 10 years (1964 1974) and posted a 79-33 record.His first year at Seiling saw a state class B title go to the school as O’Dell’s team went 14-0. O’Dell captured 1 state title, 3 class B district titles, made quarter-finals twice and was semi-finalist in districts once.He was named All-State Coach in 1970. His playing career saw him earn Junior College All American honors at Cameron Junior College and All-Missouri Valley honors atmOklahoma State.“1 just hope we can be competitive and be winners said O'Dell this morning.
