erstro$clBalmoral StagesSuccessful CarnivalDuo to t.he mild weather- during the week, everyone was in doubt as to whether or not there would be a Carnival, but on Saturday, March 9th. the weather co-operated, and with Ken Doan as Master oF Ceremonies, the events got off to a good start. Mrs. Gordon Barbour, Mrs. Tom Croy and Mr. Ed. Thompson wore the judges, and hud a very hard tiino choosing the winners from the many and varied costumes. Results were as follows:Pre-schoolers: fancy, Sandy Proky and Randy Goudy; comic, Patricia Stewart (tied) Lynn Cockerill and Bruce Campbell. Girls 10 and under, fancy, Robin Lntta. Sandra Good, Shelly McKnight; comic, Jean McGee, Wendy Good and Brenda Roche. Boys, 10 and under, fancy, Vern Latta, Keith tallies and Garry Good; comic, Donny Latta, Kevin Good (tied) Scott Good and Allan Goudy. Girls 1115, fancy, Karen Pro-ky, Linda Appleyard and Barbaraigh Mews$3, W. BENNETTttei,11asifesnni-clto be released of her duties as president and yours truly was elected to replace her — with Mrs. C, Harris as vice-president. The secretary read the financial report and a list of the many sick gifts, fire aid and gifts to the Eriksdale hospital of sturdy toys and to the senior citizen’s home at Lundar of a lovely scenic picture. Two visitors were welcomed, our dear friends Mrs, R. Wert of Oalc Point and Mrs. August Eyolfson of Clarkleigh. A lovely lunch was enjoyed by all and a very animated discussion was carried on during that time—naturally, regarding the school proposition,Goudy; comic, (tied) Margaret Meyers and Kim Moore, Wendy Holmstrom. Boys, 1L13, fancy, Randy Proky and Buddy Latta, comic, Bruce Watt and Arthur Goudy; Ladies costume, Jackie Garn. Men's costume, C. Dykstra.The results of the races are as follows:Boys, 0 and under; Bruce Burton, Kenny Lohmer, Alien Goudy and Dale Lohmer, Girls, 6 and under. Laurie Lohmer, Brenda Roche, Patricia Stewart. Boys, 7-9: Martin Meyers, John Inkster, Kevin Good. Girls, 7-0’. Jean McGee, Kathy Good and Shelly Mc-Knight. Boys, 10-12: Len McKnight, Ken Burton and Gary Holmstrom. Girls, 10-12: Linda Appleyard, Karen Burton, and Wendy Holmstrom. Boys 13-15: Gary Holmstrom, Glen Appleyard and Kenny Meyers. Girls, 13-15; Laurel Jackson, Margaret Meyers, Kathy Meyers.About 3:30 p.m. a large crowd enjoyed watching the power toboggan races, held in Mr. Fox's field, with men, ladies and boys taking part. Prizes went to:Men’s open race: Ray Glucki, Fred Glucki and Sam Good. Ladies open race: Lois Finos, Margaret Meyers and Kitty Stewart. Boys 14 and under: Claude McKnight (tied) Ken Meyers and Tim Bruce. Boys 10 and under: Kevin Good and Doug Good.Lunches were served throughout the day to the spectators. In the evening there was a hockey game scheduled, but this was cancelled due to ice conditions, and a couple of broom ball games were played instead, which created! lots of excitement.
