Tntnday, Mtith 20, 194$,ALL-STARS DOWN DETROIT 60-56 -WChicago — lt;5* — The Oshkosh,Wig., AH Start, paced by forward Leroy (Cowboy) Edwards who bagged 23 points—14 of them in the third quarter—defeated Detroit €0*56 last night to ihove into the tec*ond round of the world professionalbasketball tournament at Chicago stadium.The Edwards scoring burst enabled the AH Stars to wipe out the 29-26 lead Detroit claimed at the half.Chicago’s American Clears won the first of three games In the opening round, defeating the Hartford, Conn., Nutmegs, 58-47. The Gears trailed Hartford, 22-21 at the half. Sian Patrick, guard, led the winners with 15 points.In the final game of the night the New York Rena gained ^a second round berth by eliminating the Indianapolis Oilers, 67-59. The Rena led at the half, 36-27.
