The Grizzlies have 11 players returning from last year’s team. Bryan Scheneman, Phil Seabury, Isaac Hoffman, Mike Cameron and T.J. Green return from last year’s starting nine. There are 16 players on the Golden Sierra roster, a big improvement over previous years “It’s still too early to tell because we’re still checking things out,” admitted Hendrix when asked to evaluate his team. “This is the deepest club I’ve had in six years as a coach. I can put nine decent athletes on the field5 ’ Hendrix added that enthusiasm characterizes this year’s squad.“No more players out there praying, ‘don’t hit it to me’ or ‘don’t send me in to pinch hit coach,’ these kids want to play. Baseball-wise things are getting better around here.”Hendrix looks to his two starting pitchers as one of his bigger strengths. Southpaw Cameron will alternate with right-handed sophomore Brian Thomas. Scheneman will come in late in the game, to supply heat, as a closer. Their primary battery mate will be Matt Gaffney with Seabury in reserve.Hendrix is still experimenting as to the rest of the lineup.
