League champs top MVAL picksMonocacy Valley Athletic League trichampions Middletown. Walkersville and Smithsburg took up most of the first-team spots in the All-MVAL boys team, announced on Thursday.The Knights* Paul Borawski, and the Lions' Derek Shackelford were the county picks for the first team. Meanwhile, Smithsburg’s O. J. Bohannon and Eric Gerber were the other tri-champion members to the first team. Melvin Smith of Williamsport also made the team. Middletown, Walkersville and Smithsburg all finished the league with identical 12-2 marks.Middletown's Bob Ambrose and Catoctin’s Mark Topper made second team all-league.Five different players comprised the first team for the Ail-MVAL girls.
