PLAYERS ARE OFF FOR FRENCH LIE*FIRST SECTION OF HOOSIERS GO TO TRAINING QUARTERS.PLAYERS HAVE THE BASEBALL FEVER.Bright Sun of Monday Put Much Pepper Into the Men—Confident of the Strength ofWatkins’ Team.The advance section of the Hoosiers’ battery men left Monday for French Lick Springs, where they wilt put in this week drinking the waters of the resort and loosening up their muscles under the hot Indiana sun—that is, if the sun shinedand it is hot.The players were a bit slow in coming in Monday morning, Bales coming down from Carmel to join Pitchers Fisher, Summers and Slagle and Catcher Pat Uvingston, who reported at the English hotel, Sunday.Briggs Detained.Pitchers Kellum and Briggs will be on hand early, though Briggs may be detained at Cleveland a day or two. Che- .nault is ill at his Tennessee home, and will not report at French Lick. ;There was a pretty frisky lot of ball players at the hotel, Monday. The Chicago team has been at West Baden two seasons and is booked for next year. The Boston Americans have engaged rooms when the team returns from the south. They will be at West Baden four days on their way to Indianapolis, where thdy play March 30, going from there to Fort Wayne, where they are booked March 31 and April 1 and 2. This s^iows that West Baden is one of the coming training camps for tho ball teams.More Teams Next Year.The quarter-mile indoor bicycle and running track at West Baden i« one of the best that could be constructed, while the* diamond which is laid out inside of the track is a beautiful one, very level and smooth, so that the players are not afraid
