MONTREAL, March 16 (CP) —William Northey, life member of the* Canadian Amateur Hockey Association, said today he has recommended that the Allan and Memorial Cups be retired to the Hockey Hall: of Fame because they-no longer represent amateur competition. Northey, a former trustee of the Allan Cup. offered his recommendations in a letter to A1 Pickard of Regina, president of the C.A.H.A.He suggested in effect that the rpateur hockey-governing organization drop the word “amateur” from its name and consider itself as operating on a professional basis.
