cR I MS 0NcO M ME NTThis issue marks this scribe's last as author of this column. It Is not •without regrets that we give up this one small comer of opinion. If the readers of this bit of comment ham received os big a “kick out of It aswe have in writing It, we can retire with a very satisfied feeling.□ O □Since coming to this campus four years ago we have watched the heartbreaks, the elations. the laughs connected with Coe College athletics with much Interest. Association with men connected with sports at Coe has Indeed been a privilege and an education In itself.□ □ DThe cooperation that we have received from coaches when we tried to wangle a bit of news Is all that could be asked for. We extend our sincere thanks to coaches Moray L. Eby, Willis Lamb, Harris Lamb, Forrest Rltt-geis, BUI Davis and Don Belknap,□ □ □Looking tray back on what Is now .history in the field of Coc college athletics, several things stand out very clearly in our memory. Probably the one event that Is foremost in mind is that fateful night when the announcement came that we had won the bas-kethail championship. School spirit was never higher. Ranking close behind that was Coe's fourth consecutive track championship,□ □ OOne of the biggest disappointments was the outcome of the gild season this year. We had watched those boys on the team progress, ever since they had hit the campus, and we really looked for something. Just what happened we have never been . able to figure out, but well, that’s life.o □ aProbably the biggest laugh we had came from our own predictions. We have been so consistently wrong in looking into the future that it finally became funny (and costly). In our own defense all we can say is that sports writers arc noted for being poor fortune tellers.□ □ oTo get back to the present we dish out one small yam on the reputation that one Bob Schuelzky has made with some of the local kids of the town who are regularly on tap for all contests. Said one small youngster to Bob, “How did you get a sweater?” I played guard on the football taem. Bob said. “Are you Joss? countered the youngster. No, replied Bob. Then are you Pilgrim?”—grunt from Bob. “Oh now I recall,” said the youngster, “you played on the freshman team this year.” Funeral services will be held for one small boy tomorrow. (Incidentally Schuelzky was co-captain of this years' team In case anyone else is in doubt as to Bob's football career.)□ □ □Our final plea lo those remaining,“keep sports polng at Coc.” It is up to every man to do the best he cannow that material will be exceedingly short. No matter how bad the beatings, never let it be said that the Kohawks are QUITTERS.
