HAITI IS FIRST TO ENTER1930 OLYMPIC GAMESHAVANA March 7.--Haiti is th. first to accept the invitation of th' Cuban government to take part it the Pan-American Olympic garnet which will be held in Havana in 193(tThe acceptance was made throui a letter from Andre F. Chevalier president of the Comite Qlympiqu* Haitien, which organization is centralizing the athletic g-roups of Hakl, to Brigadier General W. I. Consuegha. secretary of the Olympic committee, which has its headquarters in the presidential palace.Mr. Chevalier writes that the Haiti group will take part in the athletics in full, and also in the military events, including rifle and pistol marksmanship. They will also send delegations to enter the foot*-ball, basketball, volleyball and tennis events, he stated in his letter of acceptance. *Cator, who is the Olympic champion for the high-jump, is to represent Haiti in the athletic events, and Theard, who will be remembered by sports fans as having won International University Games, honoursand championships, will also wear th» ribbon of Haiti.Invitations have been extended to other countries to take part in th^ 1930 events and a special stadium if to be built to accommodate the thou sands who are expected to witness the various events.
