Sherman says, “People whotend to dismiss girls athleticsare those who haven't been to see a game recently” and that could well be true. Even boy’s varsitv coaches have com-wmented about the vastly improved play by the gals and howcompetetive the games have become.While girs’s sports have not yet really been corrupted by scholarships and the publicity bug. that is also changing as collegiate level athletics picks up for the females. Recruiting still remains a problem for college coaches since they can not go out and contact the better players, but must wait forrequests from the gals themselves.But the scholarships arecoming soon and some playershave already received grants from some institutions, noteable Ohio University appears to be a front-runner. But more and more the girls are looking at their colleges withhopes of participating in women’s athletics and this is becoming a factor in their choices of schools.Sherman's success perhaps comes from his attitude of ‘looking at the girls as athletes”, something that is perhaps long overdue by everyone.
