This was the second time that the W.M. sextet crushed the Lionettes in their march to the title. The Rebi] six defeated Ouachita to win the north Louisiana triple-A crown.In the first half of the battle the two teams fought wildly for every point with neither club being able to total a sufficient lead to relieve the hot pursuit of the opposition. In the first quarter the lead changed hands three times and when the horn sounded to end the period, the Lionesses were ahead 9-8.In the second eight minutes the lead changed to the follower fivei times with the organizations ex-s | changing point for point. When the half-time curtain fell, West Monroe was on tip, 24-22.Rebel shooting improved in the I final half with John Ann Painich sparkplugging her team on to a 46-33 third quarter lead and a victory for the state throne.After beating the Parish high girls here some weeks ago. Coach Natalie May carried her Rebel cagers over the Terrebonne Tigers r i to qualify for the finals. The Lion j lasses stepped over both Jennings and Istrouma of Baton Rouge to win the right to play for the championship.Painich was leading scorer for the W.M.H.S. machine with 22 points.
