The Odessa Oilers, defending champions of the I-onghorn baseball league, have signed eight players. in addition to Manager JackieSullivan, for the 1951 season.They are Floyd Martin, outfielder; Evelio Ortega and Herb Ca-denhead, pitchers; Emil Ogden, outfielder; Richard Glockzin, infielder; Wayne Batson, first baseman; Otto Reyes, outfielder; and Elbie Miller, pitcher.Martin is a Big Spring boy and a brother to Bobby (Pepper) Martin, Corpus Christl Infleider.Odessa has also released Bill Cearley, outfielder-catcher.All of the other Longhorn leagueclubs have been busy as the timefor the opening of spring drills nears.Roswell contracts which went to Louis Stoops, Ray Drake, Dale Grove, Dean Franks, Ray Hill and M-nager A1 Monohak have been approved y the league.Artesia has signed Melvin Law rence Miller, Carl Cooley, EltonClay Portwood «rd Milton DeweyMarshall and released JackieCampbell.j Midland has given a release toHarold T Wearne.San Angelo has inked Johnny Tavoan. Jatk Smith of that club has been conditionally assigned to Harlingen,Vernon has released Woody Windham.
