The same speedster captured the trophy last year and as a result of yesterday’s race the local yacht club again retains the prized possession for another year.There wore thrills galore as j »ome of the fastest speed boats in | the nation skimmed over the blue ! waters of the bay yesterday while thousands of persons looked on. ! The regatta opened Friday and came to a close late yesterday afternoon.Leon Pickett won first honors in the local race of the 151 hydroplane class. Mrs. W. J. Selby, driving Bilma Junior, captured the express cruiser event, while the Venice entry took the fish class event.In the free for all, Miss Okeechobee driven by Mrs. W. J. Con* ners, Palm Beach, took first, showing real speed to keep ahead of a classy field. Mrs. Conners is recognized as one of the most daring women drivers of speed boats.
