BIG BASKETBALL TOURNAMENT TO OPENIN MEN’S GYMNASIUM THIS AFTERNOONTwelve High School Quintets in City to Compete to IndianaChampionship.'rnte3-illThe first annual Indiana interscholastic basketball championship tournament will begin this afternoon at 1 o'clock in the men’s gymnasium under the auspices of the Booster’s Club. Twelve high school basketball teams from as many cities of the state have arrived and arc awaiting the referee’s whistle. The schedule for this afternoon follows:1 P. M. Rochester—New Albany.2 l\ M. Morristown—Walton.3 P. M. Bluff ton—Evansville4 P. M. Crawfordsville—Anderson..5 P. M. l.afayette—Oaktown.7 P. M. Valparaiso—Lebanon.Bob Harris, former Indiana coach and Chicago University player, will act as referee in ail games. Burt Westover, a Purdue man, will umpire. Floor manager Kase, of the Indiana gym, will act as assistant. Berry Whitaker and dice Winters will be score keepers, and Linga-man and Thompson will act as timers. lt;ieorge Gill will have charge of affairs at the door.The six winning teams will continue the tournament tomorrow forenoon, playing three games. The winners of these games will wind up the tourney in the afternoon and evening. It is a strenuous program but the managers all say their men are in gobd condition and ready for a grind.A handsome embossed seal, emblematic of the championship of Indiana, will be awarded to the winning five. Due entertainment is being provided for all of the visitors, the various organizations housing them. The visiting teams were apportioned as follows: Rochester—Kappa Signta.New Albany- Phi Kappa Psi. Rochester is known to have been weakened by the loss of young Barnhart. Walton has made more big scores than any other team but just what this means remains to be seen.
