Jayeoe Regional Gol-dren Gloves Boxing Tournament held in Brownwood Saturday, March 4, in the Coliseum.Other local boxers participated in the bouts, with lightweight Paul Rivera of Abilene taking the decision over Arthur Hernandez of San Saba in the only open bout.Vallerina Cantu took the title in the bantamwoight division by defeating Mike Sanchez of Brown-wood.Donald Rigga won the decision over Jerry Bamum of Brownwood for the middleweight bitle and also was presented the Jerry Simpson sportsmanship trophy, sponsored by Radio Station KEAN.Welton Watson was winner of the welterweight title.In the pee wee division, Monty Riggs won the decision over Gene Hopkins of Brownwood; Gary Sanderson won bouts over Gary King and Lynn Fulcher, both of Brownwood.Pat Jim Baker lost his bout to Frank Curricl, Abilene, an the light welterweight match,Brownwood won flyweight, light heavyweight and heavyweight titles and received the outstanding team trophy* The Ed Devery outstanding boxer award went to Jack Jackson of Brownwood.
