Crane, the famous long-distance thrower of last year’s Boston Unions, has signed with the Providence club. Gilligan, the catcher, has finally signed with Providence. Paul Hines still holds out, and. in case of a failure to secure him, Crane will be substituted as centre-fielder. □Schedule meetings of three state associations will soon be held, the New Hampshire meeting March 4, in Concord; Connecticut, 5, in Waterbury, and New’ York, 9 and 10, in Albany, N. Y.Tim Keefe says that in case he is released by the Metropolitans, and the New York club wants his services, he w ill sign w ith the latter.A meeting will be held March 10 in Cincinnati for the purpose of organizing an Ohio and Indiana league. Tha new association is to include clubs in Columbus, Dayton, Hamilton, Springfield and Toledo, Ohio, and Evansville, Fort Wayne, Indianapolis, Richmond, Terre Haure and Vincennes, Indiana.Keokuk is to have a professional nine during the coming season; ank, if arrangements now pendiug for the formation of the Mississippi Valley league are perfected, the club will be a member. This organization will in a measure take the place of the defunct Northwestern league. The playersthus far selected for the nine here are Dug-dale. Kennedy and O'Brieu of last season's Keokuks, O'Brien of last season’s St. Pauls, Welch of U. P. of Omaha, Corcoran of Quincy, Fowler and Visuer of Stillwater, Harter of Muskegon.Manager Thompson, of the Minnesota clubof St. Paul, will have the following team next season,: Kavanaugh and Dealy, catchers; Nelson and L.
