WATT9For The TelegraphALTON — Quick feet danced to traditional Irish music at Glenhaven Gardens Saturday afternoon as members of the O’Faolain Academy of Irish Dance entertained residents with jigs and reels.The troupe of about a dozen dancers, ages 6 to 26, performed for an hour then chatted briefly with the audience of about 100 residents and members of thecommunity.“The residents loved the performance last year,” said Lana Bertschi, marketing director for the assisted living facility. “They gave us their input on the types of activities they wanted to have this year, and they asked to have the dancers back.”“I saw them last year,” said resident Joyce Henning after the performance. “They did such an excellent job. The little girls were so sweet.”Jennifer O’Faolain-Bartley, the academy’^ director, said besides being a form of cultural dancing, Irish step-dance is an art and a sport. She introduced a “newly formed team that has won gold and silver medals.”See DANCERS, Page A9
