State rinks sweep to curling titlesThe Tim Somerville rink of Superior edged the Steve Brown rink of Madison, 5-4, in overtime Saturday to win the men’s title at the National Curling Championships Saturday at Neenah.In the women’s competition, the Lisa Schoeneberg rink of Madison defeated defending champion Colorado, 6-5, in overtime to give Wisconsin a sweep of the titles.In overtime of the men’s match, the Brown rink placed a stone near the tee. But Somerville was able to knock it out of the house on his final throw, and leave his stone near the tee for the victory.Schoeneberg’s rink won in much the same way as Somerville’s. After Colorado skip Bev Behnke left her last shot near the tee, Schoeneberg was able to slip her stone past a guard and knock Behnke’s shot out of the house. Schoeneberg's shot stayed in for the win.
