ennsy Five Enters First Time, Shows i22-9 RecordA newcomer to the Alhambra Catholic Invitational Tournament was announced by tourn-•ey officials last night with the acceptance of the bid for the local roundball classic by Serra High School of McKeesport, Pa. •Coached by James Monroe, the Porters won 22 and lost nine for the regular season, including seven of their last nine ' outings.Paced by six-six junior Gregory Latin, Serra is regarded as one of the top quints in its aea; playing many of the bigger schools and compiling a top record.v Latin has tallied 610 points and receive heavy offensive support from Dnine Dndlk, * six-one senior. who scored 476 points and senior Robert Pikula, also afcr-one, who caged 424 markers this year.Kevin Murphy wound up with 346 tallies and Joe Ogrodnik had 273 counters to round out the top scorers. Both are seniors.Dudik, completing hU career this campaign, was the team’s Most Player last year while Latin was selected- for the MVP honor during the current season.Latin, Pikula and Dudik were selections on the 1965-66 McKeesport Daily News All-District team and both Latin and Dudik picked up a first and second team honors on the 1967 All-Catholic League squad.Dudik has almost been nominated to play in the 1967 Roundball Classic at Pittsburgh's. Vs., Serra was beaten Collegiate of Richmond 67-57 and Loyola of New York 83-64 but finished with a 59-52 | triumph over Cardinal Gibbons of Baltimore.Top scoring outburst for the Monroe quint came in the 105-83 rout of West Newton. The Red and Gold was beaten by the . strong Elizabeth-Forward cagers in overtime 79-76 and forced North of Pittsburg into a triple overtime when coming off-with a 76-72 thriller.v Serra and Bishop Waisn, the host quint, are the defi-’nite entrants in the tourney, the seventh by the local Al-. hambras, with St. Agnes of Rockville Center, N.Y. the defending champion.The tourney begins with a tipoff dinner Wednesday, March 15, at St, Mary’s Church Hall.
