Drag racing surveyto be made in cityBy TIMES STAFFTo determine the level of interest in drag racing among students, the Wichita Falls Citizens Traffic Safety Council Wednesday decided to prepare and distribute a questionnaire in the city’s high schools.The idea of establishing a city drag racing strip was proposed by City Traffic and Transportation Director Ed Ilschner who said Wednesday the questionnaire’s results would indicate what to plan.‘T received quite a number of calls,” he told die group. He said he had asked the owners of RedRiver Drag Strip about using their race course, but they were “not too terribly interested.”If the survey indicates sufficient interest in racing among city students, the owners might be persuaded to re-open the track.From the National Hot Rod Association Ilschner learned insurance costs would range from $80 to $260 for each event.
