The Sharon Tigerettes eliminated Oil City’s girls, 66-55, in first round Class AAA District 10 basketball action Saturday at Saegertown High School.The loss ended the Oilers’ season giving coach Peg McDou-gal’s Blue and White an 11-9 record on the season.Sharon will next play Erie East Wednesday at a site to be announced later this week.Oil City’s Bridget Hale hit for 29 points including 19 in the second half to up her career point total to 1,020.Hale also ended up with a single season scoring record of 555 points surpassing the former mark of Joan Smith of 537 in1982.Hale hit the 1,000 point level at 5:21 of the second period on a 10-foot jumper. The game was stopped and Hale’s latest basketball accomplishment was announced to the crowd.Oil City’s Lori Radack and Peggy Gregory both reached double figures with 10 point games in the loss.Sharon raced to a 15-10 lead in the first period and won the second quarter, 21-15, to lead at halftime by a 36-25 count. Sharon also won the third period, 15-12, and the Oilers came back to take the fourth, 18-15.Leading Sharon were Melody Washington with 22, Tracy Cas-tlos with 16, and Ginny McFarland with 18.Oil City ■ Hale 14 1 29.
