Scanning the FieldBy JOE SZAFRANOur teemed collesjue, Bob Davis, of Franklin eall* our attention to the slory which appeared on this pace Wednesday, relative to the final Section 2 league'■ scoring figure* for the H[ current season. In our story vre itated that Lou Kraft* Oil City's center, tied the league'• record in total number of point* scored, He finished with' 149 in his eight league games. We pointed out that this lied the old record held by Larry Gent* Franklin's 1939 scoring ace. Gent played in 12 league games, four more than Kraft.Davis stated that this was an error. Gent, he said, scored!165 points that season. Checking the old files we found thatjuio Gen! had scored 167 that year. He had 149 points going into - Hu?!J1211*the final game with Corry, who at that time was a member of PejrTfthe Section 2 league. Against the Beavers he looped 1ft points to nm his point-total in the league to 167, a record which still stand a So we bow our head in humble apology for our error.: Nevertheless Kraft's average per game of 16.6 points is league record. The previous high was held by Ralph Musser, jKan Franklin star who averaged 16.8 in eight games in 1944. u* a a a * 1 *tiHSince 1931, when Coach Wells took over the basketball Hreins at the local school, nine Oilers have captured the individ- rual scoring crown in the Section 2 league play. ;Besides Kraft, other Oilers to win the crown were BillLilly in 1931, Johnny Wydro in 1935.
