Cubs Go Westfor TrainingBy United I'm**CHICAGO, March I.—Headed by Manager Charlie Grimm, the Chicago Cubs depart tonight to begin spring training at Catalina Island, Cal. Nine players will be in the party leaving Chicago and four others will join the group at Kansas City. The remainder of the squad will be picked up at Los Angeles on Sunday.Manager Grimm said today that he planned to hire Grover Cleveland Alexander, one-time Cub ace, who has been pitching for the House of David team for several years, to pitch in batting practice for several days until the other pitchers get into shape. Alexander is now at Catalina Island.Three members of the White Sox. accompanied by President J. Louis Comiskey, left last night for Pasadena to join the rest of the squad in training. The players were George Earnshaw, Sad Sam Jones and Evar Swanson.
