MOST MINOR LEAGUE BASEBALL TEAMS now travel from town to town by automobile, some of them having special buses for the purpose with the name of the team painted conspicuously on the side. The colored ball teams do all their traveling in this manner because it is much cheaper and more convenient than traveling by train. One of the outstanding independent teams is that known as the House of David team. The players are all bearded and this provides a curiosity that brings out large crowds. The House of David team expects to cover 25,000 miles throughout the United States this summer, playing most of the games at night under arc lights. They have a special plant for this purpose which is conveyed from point to point by a fleet of trucks and is operated by fifteen electricians and engineers. •It is interesting to know that one of the pitchers at present for the House of David team is Grover Cleveland Alexander, who. until recently, was a star j pitcher in the big league. He is now forty-three years j old and is the only player who refuses to grow a » beard. jGood night. I« *»npiTTr* ‘iV/iPQotnvrrinm' DAxro I
