ElliotclaimsfeatureByBilLMgwitti Tribune sporta writer Warsaw's Tony Elliott, 1989Kokomo Speedway co-champion, grabbed the lead on the 14th lap and pulled away to a comfortable win in Sunday's 25-lap sprint feature race.Dave Darland, the only repeat winner in the sprints this season,grabbed the lead on the first lap from Mark Owsley, who started on the pole.“I got past Darland coming outof turn two and stayed high withhim behind me because I was afraid he might get by me if I gotdown low,” Elliot said after therace.After both cars got into traffic with lapped cars, Elliott skillfully manuevered his car through the slower cars and gradually put more and more distance between himself and Darland.Jeff Donelson drove a strong race to finish third with Paul Huntington fourth and Owsley fifth. Defending champ Gary Fisher was sixth. Tom Bigelow seventh, fast qualifier Brad Boyer finished eighth, Tim Bookmiller was ninth and Scott Fisher rounded out the top 10 cars.Elliott won the heat for the eight fastest cars. Other heat winners were Bob Kinser and John Mepes. Bigelow won the trophy dash.Frankfort's Dalton Gates made a clean sweep in hobby stocks. The former track champ who has been out of action most of the season was fast qualifier, won his heat race, the dash and the feature.Following Gates to the flag in the feature were Glen Bradley, Mike McMahon, Tony Mote, Rod England, Dave Ronk, Cliff Burns,Tony ElliottRick Stone, Robert Johnson and Clarence Osborn to round out thetop 10.Jim Davis won his second straight street stock feature race with Ronnie Glassburn second, Swede Bolander third, Gene Head fourth and Liz Sharp fifth.Kokomo Speedway remits Super SprinliFast qualifier— Brad Boyer: ia.16t I«V Elliott; 2.
