Moraine is tied for third place in the league standings, behind Elmhurst and Oak LawnThe team, which plays its home games at Sandburg high school, consists of former Sandburg, Andrew, Shepard and Brother Rice high school playersThe highlights of the first two weeks include solid outfield play by Pete Santucci (Lewis college and Sandburg), Kevin Hartler (Eastern Illinois and Shep ard) and John LaRocco (Andrew). Santucci currently leads the team in hittingIMPRESSIVE PITCHING by Fred Casey (2-0) of St. Xavier and Shepard, Ken Hassel (1-1), Joliet Junior college and Sandburg, and Mike Heniff (2-1), Brother Rice, has kept Moraine in every game.Last weekend Moraine split a pair of doubleheaders, losing twice to Arlington Heights, 9-5 in 10 innings and 5-3, then beating Oak Lawn 0-2 and 9-7 behind the pitching of Heniff and CaseyMoraine exploded for 20 hits in the two games with Mike Emmerick (Iowa and Sandburg) leading the way with five hits, including a triple.Tim Hooker (Sandburg) was three for-five, and A1 Knox (Ellsworth Junior college and Sandburg) was three for-six, driving home five runs in the second game On Saturday Knox hit a 440 foot homer against Arlington Heights in a losing causeHARTLER WAS four for eight with two doubles Other players on the Moraine team are Greg Billo, Dan Mehalek, Dennis Dresden, Doug Busch.
