INSURANCE COMPANY ASKS THE COURT TO MAKE A DIVISION OF $1,422.50 DUE ON RONDO, MONT., HOLDUP.In Judge Kennan’s court a lively controversy is on. D. D. Mc-Phee, Alexander McDonald, R. T. Briley, M. E. Ryan, T. P. Enright, John Delaney, H. R Walton, S. E. Henry, .Jesse Howe and Thomas Riley, of Spokane and Bonners Ferry, Idaho, and their respective attorneys are trying to determine among themselves and to the satisfaction of the Marine Insurance Co. of Jxmdon just who is entitled to the $1,422.50 reward offered by the company for information leading to the arrest and conviction of the men concerned in the Great Northern holdup at Rondo, Mont., on September 12, 1907.For this crime Edward McDonald and George Frankhauser were arrested at Spokane and taken back to Helena, Mont., for trial and later in the absence of the sheriff from the jail escaped. Frankhauc# r was recaptured and !• now serving time, but McDonald is still at large.The insurance company guaranteed the safe carriage of the money which was shipped from the Commercial National bank of Chicago to the Old National bank of Spokane. The amount taken was $40,000 and a reward of 1 per cent of the amount recovered was offered. Frankhauser and McDonald had $14,295 in their possession when captured, and all the men above named claimed the reward, and failing to agree among themselves, the company paid the money into court.Judge Kennan will decide from the testimony just what was done and who did it which brought about thhe capture and who is entitled to divide the money.
