Volume 10I-ac du Bonnet. MaiAnnual Ball TournamentHeld at Seven SistersMilHelThe Seven Sifters Fast Ball Club held their annual ball tournament on Sunday. June 26. with six local teams.Whitemouth emerged as the tournament champions when they won over the Pine Palls Power Kings In a seven Inning final game by a score of 12-6. In reaching the final. Whitemouth had eliminated Seven Sisters by a score of 8 to 3 and'also beat the Hungry Nine 6 to 5. Incident-ly. this was one of the best games of the day as the Hungry Nine failed by a whisker in tying the score.In the other half of the draw, the Power Kings reached the final by defeating their arch rivals, St George. 8 to 7.Umpires for the day were Julius Wallengham, William Lawson and L. Canada. Base Umps were Bob Honke. Eddie Honke and Bill Boyer. vThe refreshment booth did a roaring business as thirsty fans consumed gallons of soft drinks and scores of Hot Dogs. Members of the refreshment booth committee were Mesdames Mary Picard. Gertrude Cousins. RoseKing, Florence Kretchmer, Ella i Cramer. Elsie Howcroft. Anne •! G4ttins and Misses Daisy King and Bernice Kuhn. Assisting Ihe ladies were Stan Gittins. Del Cramer. Allan Dales and Albert Braund. Collecting at the gates were Jack Howcroft George Kretchmer and Howard Leith. Fred King and Lome Simpson were on the ground committee. Manager Tom Venn was in charge of the tournament draw as well as general Manager of the tournament as a whole.The draw for the power lawn mower- was made at an intermission called during the final game and the winner was Oscar Noel of Seven Sisters when Sandra Smith of Great Falls drew out the winning ticket Edward Kretchmer donated the ice used in cooling the drinks.ELMAByc.
