Barracuda Swim team hosts Poplar Bluff, Scott CityOSCEOLA — The Mississippi County Barracuda Swim Team hosted swimmers from Poplar Bluff Swim Team and Scott City Swim Team, on Saturday, June 26. The weather was nice;for the 140 swimmers that competed in the first of two home meets for the Barracudas. This year’s Mississippi County team is made up of swimmers from Blytheville, Burdette, Osceola and Driver.Returning as coaches are Tom Francis for the northern area and Rebecca Beall for the southern area of the county. Also helping in coaching is former Barracuda, Kristen Francis, who is presently swimming for the University of Alabama.The Barracuda team earned second place in total team points behind the larger Poplar Bluff Swim Team. Twelve Barracudas earned first place ribbons by winning their individual events. Top point earners were Lauren McKenzie and John Clowers who both earned first place finishes in all three of their individual events. McKenzie broke a Florida Park Pool record in the 100 yard breastroke in earning one of her three blue ribbons. Bringing home two first place finishes were Hillary Hancock, Oury Beall, Caroline LHrance, Caitlyn Fitzgerald and Eftyaid Francis.
