Robert abont f mile north-wret of Hanover. Young Siaab was accompanied by three other boy*— Fred and William Scherdel and Arnold Hiltebridle. After playing ball during the evening the boy* went to the quarry to take a swim. Staub got uooo a rock and after exclaiming “here goee, boy*,” jumped into the deepest part of the quarry. He came to the surface twice but made no outcry. The last time he disappeared he remained deneath the water. His companions, who were much smaller bovs, became fear stricken and ran to their homes, where they made known the occurrence.Work was begun immediately to recover the body bv drugging; this, however, on account oi the depth of the water— about 10 feet—proved impracticable without a boat, and Paul and Henry Dubs, young men who reside along the Carlisle 'pike, about a * mile from the scene of the accident, stripyqjl and jumped into the quarry. After considerable diving Paul Duhs located the body in the deepest pari and with his brother’s assistance brought the body to shore about 9 o'clock. No inquest was held, it being deemed unnecessary by J usticeC-.H. Richter, who was present. The body was removed to the establishment of Bair Bros., undertakers, where it was prepared for burial. The unfortunate young man was a son of Mr. and Mrs. W. A. Staub, formerly of New Oxford, now living in Newark, N. J. Besides his parents he is survived by several brothers and sisters. It is the ^general belief that Staub was attacked with a chill the moment he plunged into the water, which is very cold, coming from several springs in the vicinity.Sai m.
