Saints Lose Two Weekend GamesThe St. Patrick baseball nine came out on the losing end in both weekend games, dropping one to the West Sides of Middletown on the school grounds Saturday, 8 to 6, and losing to Cromwell in a Tri-County League game Sunday/13 to 8. |Leading 4 to 2 in the seventh inning of the first contest, the locals went into two ibadj innings, failed to play the same brand of “heads-up” ball with which they started the contest, and allowed the Forest City lads to score three runs in each frame.Thfree pitchers failed to stem the tide of defeat in Sunday’s game in Cromwell, Mack, Ferrari and Ed Bransfield each vainly trying to halt the onslaught of base-hits off the Rosetown players’bats. In Sunday’s other Tri-County League games, Southington beat Middletown, 7 to 3, and went into first place; while South Meriden trounced East Berlin, 17 to 8. Next Sunday Cromwell plays at Middletown, Southington at East Berlin and Wethersfield at South Meriden, while the locals will be idle.
