NEWBURY... —; Reunion of Newbury High School Alumni Brought Together 150 Grads.Tim third reunion of the Newbury high school alumni whs held Friday, June HI, and without any question was u moat Mireejinful ami in«Ht thoroughly enjoyable oi'caeJou in which the graduate* of old Newbury high School have lii rticfpared. The alumni arriving by train were met by motors especially decorated for tin* event, hihI these dec-, orations were ho popular that many of tin* village automobiles were soon wearing gain dress. A notuble street feature was the huge 44Welcome Alumni” sign which whs suspended between the stores and which attracted much attention. The entire day was given over to the Mlumni and everyone seemed eager to do his host to make the day one of pleasure and enjoyment for those who, returning to New-I bury tor the tir*t time in many yearn, had much to say to old friends and fellow classmates.A bull game In the morning held much attraction for many, while others found great pleasure strolling about the old common, which hold- many a story of happiness and grief, laughteiand tears, and which this year has had an acquisition well worth noting a tennis court for the benefit of the school. A most delicious lunch was served at noon under the maplea hv the «ido ofc Chadwick hall, where it waft estimated thot over one hundred were fed. During the afternoon tennis and base ball held the foreground ofattention and, considering the fact thatthe ball game was between Newbury Wells River and Dartmouth Indcpend cuts, it is of little wonder that a wild |y enthusimitic crowd gathered to witness this game. Many spectacular plays were made and some of the !o*t plav ittg ever seen on Newbury Common was seen that afternoon. The gain*' yea* won 0 to 7 in favor of Newbury and the shouts which went forth from two hundred throats were all worth hearing.At ft o'clock a 1m»ut 150 old grads and alumni sat down to the finest banquet ever served in t had wick hall. The ta Idea were charmingly decorated with va-.es of buttercups snd yellow irie. while several of the old elaaaca had their banners in conspicuous nlacea. Music, songs and colored streamer*. added pleasurable festivity to the occasion. Richard Darling acted aa toastmaster, most capably introducing Walter Johnson, who spoke in a n*m ini-coni vein. Harry Burnett emphasised the i*rcal I necessity of the proper use of thrfKng- ‘ li-h language in our every day walk-ot life, *jwaking from the standpoint of a pryifessor in a western university PM gar Leet spoke very delightfully of our beautiful Connecticut valley and the pleasantly congenial environment of Newbury high school. During the evening hr presented to the alumni a hand-colored picture r»f the lt;dd Newbury' seminary and the Methodist church, which picture i* most gratefully appreciated by graduate a and undergraduates.After a few remarks a* to the work ot the officers and committee* of the Alumni association. the tnubtMl meeting wa* called to order by the president, Wiirren W. Hailey, jr. The following officer- were re cle* ted: M W. Bailey, president ; Mary K Hale, vke prswt-dent; Harvey s Knight, secretary; Harley D.
