ATTENDING PELICAN GIRLS STATE-t Anne Reese, left above, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. R. L. Reese, of Ruston, end Carolyn Turner, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Earl Turner of Antioch community, are in Baton Rouge attending I the third Pelican Girls' State which opened on June 16.1 These girls, who were selected as representatives by the Ameri-■ can Legion Auxiliary here to represent their high school, willI attend classes for one week, which educate youth in duties, rights.privileges, and responsibilities of American citizenship.! Upon their return home, each girl is expected to appear before her sponsoring organization and the local unit to make a report of her impression of the Girls' State program, which is similar to the Pelican Boys' ^aie, in session at Baton Rouge during the past week.These two girls have been selected because of their scholastic record and qualities of leadership.
