Play the Game With Donkeys!Racine and Davids to Mount Colored Donkeys In New StuntPlayers of the House of David and the Racine Belles will ride real *‘honest-to-gcodness” colored donkeys in the donkey baseball game which will follow the main nine inning baseball game under the flood lights at Horlick’s field on Monday night, June 25. Donkey baseball has never appeared in Racine before and should make a real hit with the fans 6ince the sport is comparatively new, and, according to Manager Roy L. Doan, this novel type of baseball has had unasual success in the numerous cities in which the House of David’s team has played.Played Like This. The donkey games are played something like this:Outfielders and infielders are mounted on donkeys of various speed. When the batter hits the ball, he immediately jumps on a donkey in an effort to reach first base as soon as possible. The outfielders or infielders go after the ball on their donkeys and are not allowed to get off their mounts until they have reached the ball.In the meantime the baserunneris attempting to get his steed to first base and on around the bases. The game is intensely exciting and is without doubt one of the greau est novelties introduced into baseball. The donkeys are well-trained” in the sport, some of them prove obdurate and the baserunner becomes harassed when hia steed sometimes will stop to take a nibble of grass before proceeding around the bases. Others start with the crack of the bat and round the bases.t Alexander Will Pitch.Donkey baseball together with a nine inning ball game will be presented to Racine fans by the bearded entertainers. The House of David team will come here with the best ball club the colony has ever had. Grover Cleveland Alexander and Earl Oil’’ Smith, two former major league stars, will face the Racine Belles, who are leading the Wisconsin-Illinois league. Ralph (Lefty) Blatz will pitch for the locals since Larry Kessinich will in all probability take the mound against North Chicago on Sunday at 3 p. m. in a Wisconsin-Illinois league game.
