Town Recreation NotesOThe summer playground p r o* gram, conducted by the Town Recreation Dept., opened’ Thursday, with playgrounds established* at Pulaski Terrace, Washington • Sixth St., Tenth St., jClarem o n t School, Calfee School, Aid Plant Hills, and Cool Springs. All children were registered for participation in the various summer activities* which include the formation of leagues in baseball, softball, and registration for ,the craft classes which will b^gin Monday. The playground hours at all areas will be from 9 to 12 a. m. and 2 to 5:30 p. m., Monday through Fri° day, for supervised^play.In addition, activities will be conducted for all age groups including sand boxes for the small children. The Junior League is being sponsored bv the Elks Club of Pulaski andmont:.l:30 p. in.- Jefferson fourth and fifth grades at Jefferson; 3 p. m.-Central Elementary fifth grade at Central Elementary; 4 p. m.-Northwpod fourth and fifth grades, at North wood.Tuesday, 11 a.m.-Clarcmcnt sixth and seventh gfades at Claremont; 1:30 p. m.-Central Elementary seventh grade at Central; 2:30 p. m.-Cenjral sixth grade at Central' Elementary.Adult Women’s SoftballThis- league is for women who are above the school age and are interested in *%oftball. It op»?-rates in the latter part of the evening to enable those who work to participate.Practice sessions are held a t Cool Springs each Tuesday and Friday at 5:30 p. m. Anyone interested in participating should contact the Recreation Dept, or report to the next practice session.Plans are being formulated to schedule inter-city games with Wythieville, Salem, and Radford. A team is also chosen from this group to compete in the Amateur Softball Tournament in Salem in July.Tri-County League-Baseball Max Meadows played at Pulaski Saturday afternoon and the results are not available at this time. Today Pulaski will travel to Max Meadows, at 2:30 p. m. The two games scheduled for last Friday and Saturday were not played due to rainy weather. The Pulaski Independents have, a .500 average in this league to date. Manager JoeLawson will start either 'Garland*Harris or Carlos Akers.Calfee School The Calfee School baseball league is being formed at the school. Play will be at the Acid Plant Hill diamond Tuesday and Thursday at 2:30 p. m. under the direction of J. M. Robinson.
