Iowa Legion-Heirs, Post No. l,of IretonCThe above is a picture of the Ireton Legion-Heirs, the first organization of its kind in the state of Iowa, and has been officially designated as Iowa Legion-Heirs Post No. 1. The members of the organization are the sons and daughters of the American Legion and Women’s Auxiliary and is composed of the following officers and members: Blanche Benit, president;Phyllis Smith, vice- president; Jack Booth, secretary; Russell Grau, treasurer; James Brown, Charles Brown, Robe. Brown, Donald Reid, Stanley Reid, Walter Mitchell, Homer Bowden, Thayne Bowden, Dean Bowden, Betty Johnson, Thelma Reid, Marjorie Smith, Bonny Sewick, Mildred Lin-denman, Lois Mitchell, Dorothy Jahns Helen Jahns, Mildred Vander Hamm, Marion Vander Hamm and Marjorie Morrison.The Legion Heirs made their first-appearance in Ireton when they participated in the Memorial Day exercises and made a striking appearancerin the paiade donned in their^ uniforms of white blouses and trousers, black- tiesired sashes and dark blue caps edged in light blue and cut on the 40 and 8 style. The Legion-Heirs was also a stellar attraction, in the parade at the American Legion district convention at Rock Rapids recently and j made a big hit. Their picture ap-1 peared in the last issue of The Iowa! Legionaire, official organ of the World; War veterans and the publishers commented that “Ireton has sprung something every other Post in Iowa might well emulate. Legion-Heirs will prove to be more and more valuable as allies to the Legionaires in ..the problems which must be faced, and now is the time to plant the spirit.The organization was conceived by H. A. Smith and W. W. Booth and, with the co-operation of the local post and unit, was perfected early in the year. Bertram Post No. 276 and Its auxiliary sponsor the Legion-Heirs and only the children of its me^mhers are eligible to join.Ireton has every reason to be proud of this band of Legion-Heirs and the ,:fact that it is the first unit in the statebeen appointed guardian and furnishes a bond of §500.00.State aid has been applied for by Emil Hansen of Granville, Iowa, i'or three of his children, Ambrose, Alfred and Lawrence Hansen at the University Hospital at Iowa City, la.»-i-Order was signed in the matter of the estate of Arie A. Kuyper, deceased, authorizing, empowering and directing the Executors Cornelius J.
