18, 1903.| nosbjj caiight a foul fly in the sixth *nD*4ifc brought cheers from the spectators as well as the visit* iug players. Joe Auth made a one* lian.catch that brought the spectators to their feet.Tir s,ffnal Corps played a great gamd in the field. When ever a ball went? up in the air there would be threebor four “red bird” under it. Kucng came to bat in the last half of the mnth with the score 2 and 3 against them, but 'when Frank Trinoski stepped to the plate the celebration commenced. He “soaked” the first ball pitched tor a single and stole second on the next. Eddie Kreis was next and made a neat single that scored Trhioski with a tying run and on a wild throw, Kreis reached third. The crowd was cheering wildly when GuthrieWilhelm came up, and “Gutf” sentone down the left field foul line that hit inside and rolled out be-» fore it reached the foul flag. According to the rules it was a fair ball but again Lynch said foul ball. Kreis had scored and Wilhelm had reached third on hit. Lynch sent Kreis back to third and Wilhelm back to bat. Webb was a little nervous by this time and knowing that if a hit was made he would lose his game, he sent the ball in so fast that it would have made the 20th Century Limited turn green with envy. There was a crashing sound up where Wilhelm was standing that sounded like one of the 12 inch guns on the battleship Indiana, but when the smoke had cleared away it was found that little :Guthrie Wilhelm had made his second two bagger of the game, scoring Kreis and thus wiuning the grandest game of ball ever played in Knox.
