The Frey’s Quick Service dub tripped the General Tire club 6-2 in a Sportsman League event and then came the big jolt when a rejuvenated Logan Auto Parts team came from behind to defeat the RBM Shamrocks 3 to 2 in an Industrial League feature.Frey’s jumped into a 4-2 lead in the first two innings and sailed on to victory as Bud Zimpleman bested Harry Newell in a neat pitching duel. Zimpleman allowed the Tires five hits and Newell was {nicked for six blows. The hits were well scattered on both sides. The second game saw the Logan Auto Parts presenting a new pitcher, Ray McNeal, recently of the V. S, Navy, and he made such a difference in the team that they not only outplayed the much heralded Shamrocks but outhit and outran them. KcNeal was opposed on the mound by Bob Eiler of the Shamrocks and he too was in good form-The Shamrocks got the first tally : of the game in the top half of the; third inning when with two out; Roy Pier singled and Jim Smith ; tripled- They added another in the fourth when Pick Baker was hit by b pitched ball and thcr? went all the way to t,hird on a sacrifice bunt Mark Flora scut him home wjjb a double.
