Davids Have Easy Time With LocalsAn enormous crowd that was estimated at more than 2,500 paid their way to see the House of David baseball circus, directed by Grover Cleveland Alexander, defeat the Troubadour baseball team 10 to 0 in a regular nine inning clash, and offer its great attraction, “donkey baseball,” and present its famous pepper game at the La Crosse Athletic park Friday night.The crowd, unruly as it has ever been at Copeland park in the past, continually surged onto the baselines and completely surrounded the diamond during the “donkey baseball” fiasco.“Old Peter,” famous in baseball history as a world series hero, tossed the first frame and gave up but a single to Lefty Glasbrenner. who. by the way. had the toughest workout in center field be has had j in years.
