Davids Have Easy Time With LocalsAn enormous crowd that was estimated at more than 2,500 paid their way to see the House of David baseball circus, directed by Grover Cleveland Alexander, defeat the Troubadour baseball team 10 to 0 in a regular nine inning clash, and offer its great attraction, “donkey baseball,” and present its famous pepper game at the La Crosse Athletic park Friday night.The crowd, unruly as it has ever been at Copeland park in the past, continually surged onto the baselines and completely surrounded the diamond during the “donkey baseball” fiasco.“Old Peter,” famous in baseball history as a world series hero, tossed the first frame and gave up but a single to Lefty Glasbrenner. who. by the way. had the toughest workout in center field be has had j in years. Karl (Oil) Smith, of New j York Giants* fame, caught the en-, tire contest.Seven Troubadour errors (and j probably several more had the storekeeper not been lenient ac-' counted for a good part of the dts-i aster, but three home runs, two by Waytula. formerly of the Coast league, helped matters along. Con-nally got the other homer.Joe Walsh, youthful New Yorker. relieved Alexander in the second and allowed but five hits thereafter. He never gave more than one an inning.
