On Sunday June 5, Fred Nieman, of the loqal club, turned in a no-hit game against the Grammer club and on last Sunday Joe Benz, pitching his first game for Batesville since coming here from Chicago, duplicated this performance against the strong Aurora team, Batesville winning the game 3 to 0.A large crowd vas out to welcome the former Chicago White Sox twirl-er back to the home team, and Joe showed them that he still can put a lot of “stuff” on the ball. The Aurora team is considered one of the strongest clubs in this section of the state, but they were helpless before Joe’s “spitter” and when they did hit the ball they always found one of the local players ready to take it.
