Kiwanis PoniesWinTwo,MoveInto First PlaceThe Kiwanis Club extended its unbeaten skein to four games, and took over first place in the Connellsville Pony Baseball League by taking successive wins from Tri-Town, 6-4, and the Boosters Club, 22-3. The Kiwanians thus hold the lead with a 4-0 chart, and the Boosters, with whom they had been tied for first, drop into second place with a 3-1 record.The Tri-Town win, third in a row at that point for the lead-pts was also the third win racked up by righthander vince Tedesco, who pitched nine-nit ball, walked three, and fanned a like number. But his activity wasn’t all confined to the mound At the plate he conked a home run, triple, and two singles to have a perfect four-for-four night. Frank Belko joined him with a single, double, and triple as together they accounted for seven of the 11 hits the Kiwanians collected off losing pitcher Elmer Hileman, who had relieved starter Stevenson. Hileman was tagged with the loss when Kiwanis came from behind with four runs its last turn at bat to pull out the win.Other Kiwanian hits included one each by Harold Penm'ng-ton, Martray, Pavlosky, and Driscoll. Croftcheck hit his fourth homer'Hileman, Weaver’s two-base rap, and one hit each by Ansell, E. Swink, Hays, and Ore. Hileman struck out 10 and walked two, and Stevenson set three down on strikes and passed one.Against the Boosters, the Kiwanians clubbed 13 hits off four pitchers, with Hoza being the loser, and once again it was Tedesco and Belko leading the way. Tedesco rapped a homer and double, and Belko had three singles. Prudente also clouted a homer for the victors.
