KEELEY’S TEJMMcDonough Blows Up in Second Inning and Visitors Put Across Five Runs.Bert Keeley’s Federal Leaguers werehumbled In the first game of the seriesbetween Chicago and Covington, 9 to 5,at De Paul Field yesterday. The visitor!put across five runs in the second inning on three hits, two passes and a hit batsman that cost the home team the gsune, and, incidentally, cost Johnny McDonough his chance to ride and sleep at the expense of the Federal League.Young McDonough was sent to the mound by Manager Keeley, who is suffering from a badly shotup pitching staff, and he got by in only one inning. The second proved a nightmare, seven batsmen facing him with only one out. With five runs in, McDonough lost his promi-inence and Timmersman went in and i finished. Timmersman looked good in all but the fourth round, when four hits, combined with two errors, cost three runs.’ Jimmy Stanley, the fast little third baseman of the Cbicagos, was hit in the face by a batted ball in the sixth inning and it forced his retirement. His nose was broken and it will probably be several weeks before be again plays. The clubs will meet in a double header at 1:30 this afternoon, the first game being postponed from a former series at Covington. Don Hamilton, the former Gunther star, has been signed by Chicago, but will not pitch for several weeks, at he has a sore arm.Sooro*CHICAGO. 1 COVINGTON.r. h. po. a. e.l r. h. po-. a. %OT/y,2b3b 112 5 0|Demn'r.ss 14 4 2 1’h.lf 112 0 11 Decker.
