There are several players on the 1 Sprudels, who are what might he call- i ed “freaks.” They have an infielder who wears spectacles throughout the entire game, hatting, running bases or in the field. This black will keep on his spectacles and has never had them broken for him, either. Their first sacker is said to he the best one in his position in the country in semi-pro baseball and it is only his color that keeps him out of the big leagues. Above all, this player is a hitting scamp and is the most dangerouF person on the team when it comes toj making the outfielders earn their pav.| But the fellow who invariably catches the eye of the crowd when; the Sprudels play is their catcher— O’Neil—whose name shows that he, has infringed on the Irish for aj “monicker.” This fellow keeps thejcrowd in a continual uproar by his witty sayings and it’s a treat to watch him play. He is a high class catcher in every sense of the word and can “kid” the life out of the opposing hatters until they want to “knock his: block off.” '
